Experience the energy and ecstasy of your body in motion

Prayerbody is a drop-in dance & music experience for all ages and all bodies. There are no steps to learn, no right or wrong way to move. Your dance, your way.

It is definitely not aligned with any particular religion or dogma. After a self-guided warm-up, the morning begins with a brief facilitation to inspire a deeper connection to yourself through the Dance by opening new doorways of perception.

Our journey is supported by live music with the core group of musicians being specifically trained to create a dynamic wave of music allowing the mover to experience different aspects of their own energy. Learn more about the musicians here.

We close with an optional sharing circle. An opportunity to see and be seen.

Those of us who dance regularly find that the more we dance, the better we feel and that moving together weaves a community of Heart which nourishes and sustains us.

A weekend 5Rhythms® Heartbeat workshop with Christine Tasseff

May 15 - 17 Bayview Hall

Whidbey Island, WA

Ninety seconds. That’s how long it takes for the electro-chemical surge we call an emotion to pass through the body. Everything else is story.

An emotion begins as a tremor in the body. Before we have a word for “fear” our heart is already a drum beating a warning. Before we have a word for “grief” our throat tightens and our shoulders sag.

The 5Rhythms teach us to move with this biological tide that pulls at the shore of our nerves and shapes us through memory, habit, and defenses. This is a deep dive into the pages of our personal and collective biographies where we practice to simply let it in, let it out, let it go. Our journey is supported by the live music of Heartsweat.

A Message from Christine:

The longer format of this workshop allows for deep study and more time to dance and integrate the teachings. After much deliberation, we decided to hold it at our home floor where we’ve held Prayerbody, our Sunday Morning offering, for the past 12 years. The schedule for the workshop is below, and you’ll note that the hours on Sunday are after Prayerbody, which is 10am-noon in the same space.

I’m weaving this open dance with the larger community into the structure of our workshop- after friday evening and all day saturday together, we’ll have the opportunity to bring our experience into a wider pool….Take it to the streets if you will. After a lunch break, we’ll resume our workshop and close together sunday evening.

I’m excited to share this time with you. If you’re coming from out of town, let us know when you register if you’ll need lodging. While there are B&B’s available across the island, some of our dancers have offered space in their own homes.

Upon registration, you’ll get a letter with additional details and can of course message Janice Laursen with remaining questions.

This workshop counts towards pre-requisite Heartbeat hours for those working towards the 5Rhythms Teacher Training.

I’m excited to share this time with you.

Warmly, Christine

Live music every week by the Heartsweat musicians:
